Design: Sturdy and functional

The Cheetah Mount has a build that allows for a large range of motion on a bracket that can retract to only 2.7 inches. Tilt is controlled by a pair of screws that can be loosened to allow the TV to tilt along a crescent track. Once tightened again, the television will hold its position securely. Removing the TV from the wall mount makes this entire process easier.

Setup Process: Requires some common sense

The instructions included with the Cheetah Mount are minimal, but not difficult. Anyone who can assemble IKEA furniture without a problem will be fine. The only tools needed are a drill and a stud finder. The wall bracket can be attached to the wall, and then the TV can be attached to the bracket, all by one person. It shouldn’t take more than about half an hour.

Performance: Moving parts can feel wobbly

The arms of the Cheetah Mount move together smoothly and easily. Once a TV is attached, that ease of motion causes some small problems. With a large TV in the way of the arms, it’s difficult to retract the TV back to the wall. The TV has a tendency to move side to side or swivel, so getting both arms to move back together and flatten to the wall takes a few tries even after I have been testing it for a while. While the mount undoubtedly feel secure enough to keep the TV up, the mechanism has a little too much play. The TV pulls away from the mount a little when moved, making the mount feel flimsy. Unless I was extending or retracting the arms, though, the mount remained undeniably stable.

Price: Cheaping out is the smart choice

The Cheetah Mount can be purchased for under $40, so almost any flaws with it can be overlooked on that basis. Price-conscious consumers can save their money, because even an inexpensive wall mount is perfectly suited to the job.
