The audio-only app announced on Wednesday that it’s available to everyone. In addition, Clubhouse said that it removed the waitlist system that originally was in place to let people in.  “We’ve always wanted Clubhouse to be open. Everyone in the world should have access to meaningful conversations,” reads the blog post announcing the app’s availability. “And the best rooms on Clubhouse are the ones where you meet people from far outside your social circle, with very different views and lived experiences, who change your perspective on the world.” Clubhouse gained popularity when it launched last year as an audio-based social network. In Wednesday’s blog post, the company said the number of daily rooms had grown from 50,000 when it first started to 500,000 rooms today.  The app initially only was available to iOS users, but opened to Android users in May, which Clubhouse said brought an additional 10 million people to the app.  This week’s news follows Clubhouse’s recent announcement of its partnership with TED Talks last week. Exclusive TED Talks will take place on the Clubhouse app, starting with a weekly room on Mondays called “Thank Your Ass Off.” More shows and TED speakers will be added to the Clubhouse lineup at a later date.  Clubhouse currently sits at No. 14 in the most popular social networking apps on the Apple Store—a significant jump from last week when the app sat at No. 52. It’s possible that by allowing anyone and everyone to join the app, Clubhouse will see even more popularity as a viable option for a social network platform instead of as an invite-only exclusive club.
