Google already had unveiled plans for its Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones back in August, but now has prepared a streaming event for October 19 to go over the finer details. According to the company’s Twitter account, the pre-recorded stream will go live at 1 p.m. ET /10 a.m. PT. What will this event cover? We already know some Pixel 6 specs, such as the inclusion of the company’s new flagship Tensor processor and an in-display fingerprint sensor. However, we still don’t have a release date, a price, or information on if the phone will launch alongside the long-rumored Android 12 operating system. The Pixel 6 Pro also will have a 6.7-inch QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the standard Pixel 6 will boast a 6.4-inch FHD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The pro version will have a trio of cameras, including a 4X optical zoom telephoto lens. The regular Pixel 6 loses the telephoto lens, but keeps the other two cameras. In a tweet, the company said, “On October 19, we’re officially introducing you to Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro—the completely reimagined Google phones. Powered by Tensor, Google’s first custom mobile chip, they’re fast, smart, and secure. And they adapt to you.” Google’s smartphone division has been busy. In August, the division released a 5G-enabled Pixel 5 refresh, as well.
